Bosmere Junior School

We are excited to be able to provide you with further information about our upcoming 'SUPERSTARS' event, which will take place on Wednesday 21st May. This will be our main PTA fundraising event this year. The event will run from 1:30pm until 4:30pm and parents are invited to join us to watch their children take part in an afternoon of fun and games. The event needs to take place outside (for obvious reasons when you read on!), so in the event of wet weather, an alternative date will be explored. If, like last year, this is not possible, we will continue with a wet weather version indoors. The afternoon will be timetabled, with each class taking part in different events, earning points for their house teams. The timetable is attached for you. A map is also attached so that you can see where each of the events is taking place. As this is a fundraising event, each event will cost 50p to enter. If children want to take part in all 10 events, this will cost £5. Participation in events can be paid for via ParentMail (please click on the Shop link in payments and each event will be listed for you to purchase individually by adding them to your basket and paying for them all at the same time). Children can also bring money into school to pay for events on the day. Only one 'go' on each event can be purchased through ParentMail. However, time permitting at each event, there may be an opportunity to have a second go for an additional 50p, payable on the day. Points will be awarded for each event, recorded by the adults on each event. The more events they take part in, the more points they will earn for their house team. Bonus points will also be available on each event for being helpful, showing good team spirit or demonstrating our HEARTS values. There will be prizes for the highest points in each year group and a cup for the winning house team. All children move around with their class to each event, according to the timetable. If they do not want to take part in an event then they do not have to pay and can simply spectate. The whole event will finish at 4:30pm, but children do not have to stay beyond 3:30pm if they do not wish to. A form has been created on ParentMail for you to select the time you would like your child to leave and whether or not they are allowed to leave independently (or are going to Lisa's club). It is important that all parents complete this form so that we are able to safeguard children appropriately. There will also be refreshment stalls available, which can be visited by parents at any time and by Bosmere children during their free slots. We will need parent helpers to run these. If a large number of parents are able to offer a short slot to help, this will work really well. It is possible to volunteer during a slot when your child is not taking part in an event, so you will not have to miss any of the fun! There is an opportunity for you to indicate your availability to help on the ParentMail form also. On the day, children will need to come to school wearing sports clothes, which they do not mind getting wet / messy. They will also need to bring with them a towel and a change of clothes and spare trainers in case they get a real soaking! They will also need money to pay for additional events and to buy refreshments. Please can they bring money in a named purse – coins (including 50p pieces) rather than notes if possible. If we are lucky enough to have hot weather, please could the children also bring in a hat and put sun cream on before arriving at school. Parents are permitted to take photographs on the day at all events, with the exception of the 'Splat the Staff' event. (Staff are understandably extremely reluctant to have any compromising photographs taken of them getting wet!) Please could we ask that any photos taken at the event are not posted on social media. Please also note that children will not be allowed to have their mobile phones with them during the event. Please complete the form on ParentMail with the going home arrangements for your child, and to offer a slot to help on the refreshment stalls. Please also pre-purchase the events your child would like to take part in. We are really looking forward to seeing you all for some fun on the day!
