Governing Body Development Plan 2025–2026 Summary
The School Improvement Plan for the academic year 2025-2026 has the following key objectives:
Key priority 1 - Continue to improve the quality of education, with a continued focus on the development of oracy
Key priority 2 – Continue to improve behaviour, attitudes and personal development, with a particular focus on the promotion of relational strategies and the development of life skills
Key priority 3 – Continue to improve leadership and management, in particular the development of a Sustainability leader.
To support the School Improvement PLan and improve the governance of the school, the Governing Body set itself the following development objectives for academic year 2024-2025. The 2025-2026 plan is currently being formulated.
Objective 1
To improve Governors' knowledge of SEND provision
Success Criteria : -
- Governors feel able to monitor and challenge the strategic development of the school's SEND provision.
Planned Actions : -
- Attend Whole Governing body training on SEND and consider its implications for Bosmere.
- Ask relevant and challenging questions at FGB & C&A committee.
- Challenge subject leaders & year leaders to enquire about the SEND provision in their subject areas & year groups.
Objective 2
To maximise the effectiveness of monitoring visits
Success Criteria : -

Governors are confident in their roles and are equipped to effectively challenge and support so that Governor monitoring visits are effective and demonstrate scrutiny & challenge.
Planned Actions : -
- Review the effectiveness of the monitoring form and consider training opportunities.
- Make full use of the Governor Monitoring Plan
- Ensure that SEND & Safeguarding remain prominent in all monitoring.
Objective 3
To adopt a new Governor Skills Audit.
Success Criteria : -
- Governors further deepen their knowledge of some aspects of school improvement outside of their expertise so that they feel equipped to challenge and support leaders in these areas.
Planned Actions : -
- Adapt & adopt the new skills audit and produce a summary to address skills and knowledge gaps.
- Explore training at a committee level and promote the committee guest chair.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of the Governor Induction Programme.
