National Day of Reflection
Next Tuesday, 23rd March
Next Tuesday (23rd March) marks a year since the first UK Covid lockdown. A minute's silence (12pm) and a national doorstep vigil (8pm) will form part of a National Day of Reflection to mark the anniversary. Prominent buildings and landmarks will also be illuminated across the UK.
With a focus on reflection, hope, togetherness and 'living history,' we will be marking the anniversary in our own way with the children in school, allowing them the opportunity to take part in a variety of reflection activities throughout the morning.
As part of this morning, Mrs Lever is offering a chance for children who have lost a loved one to the virus, to be part of a small reflection group with the opportunity to write a message on a love heart that will be proudly displayed within the school. If a member of your family or a close friend has sadly passed from the COVID 19 virus, and your child would like to take part, please contact Mrs Lever (firstname.lastname@example.org) , giving your child’s name, their class, the name of the person who passed and their relationship to your child.
There will be opportunity nearer Christmas for children to decorate a bauble for others that have passed during the year and place it on our remembering Christmas tree.
Please be assured that this event is intended to be as positive as possible. It is an opportunity for the children to reflect on a significant life event, the enormity of which they will probably only appreciate in years to come!
