Governing Body Development Plan 2024–2025 Summary
The School Improvement Plan for the academic year 2024-2025 has the following key objectives:
Key priority 1 - Continue to improve the quality of education, with a particular focus on the development of writing
Key priority 2 – Continue to improve behaviour, attitudes and personal development, with a particular focus on the promotion of the HEARTS values and cultural capital
Key priority 3 – Continue to improve leadership and management, in particular embedding the new leadership structure and ensuring effective use of time and resources.
To support these and improve the governance of the school, the Governing Body has set itself the following development objectives for academic year 2022-2023:
Objective 1
To improve Governors' knowledge of SEND provision
Success Criteria : -
- Governors feel able to monitor and challenge the strategic development of the school's SEND provision.
Planned Actions : -
- Attend Whole Governing body training on SEND and consider its implications for Bosmere.
- Ask relevant and challenging questions at FGB & C&A committee.
- Challenge subject leaders & year leaders to enquire about the SEND provision in their subject areas & year groups.
Objective 2
To maximise the effectiveness of monitoring visits
Success Criteria : -

Governors are confident in their roles and are equipped to effectively challenge and support so that Governor monitoring visits are effective and demonstrate scrutiny & challenge.
Planned Actions : -
- Review the effectiveness of the monitoring form and consider training opportunities.
- Make full use of the Governor Monitoring Plan
- Ensure that SEND & Safeguarding remain prominent in all monitoring.
Objective 3
To adopt a new Governor Skills Audit.
Success Criteria : -
- Governors further deepen their knowledge of some aspects of school improvement outside of their expertise so that they feel equipped to challenge and support leaders in these areas.
Planned Actions : -
- Adapt & adopt the new skills audit and produce a summary to address skills and knowledge gaps.
- Explore training at a committee level and promote the committee guest chair.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of the Governor Induction Programme.
