MESSAGE FROM MRS ROBINSON
It hardly seems possible that we are approaching the end of another school year – the time has absolutely flown by! The children are still working incredibly hard and really enjoying their learning, with trips, visitors and some fantastic pieces of work. I am incredibly proud of all of them.

SUPERSTARS
We had such an exciting time in the last couple of weeks of the previous half term. The first event we held was our ‘Superstars’ PTA fundraising afternoon and what a success it turned out to be! The children all had an amazing time taking part in each of the events. Thank you also to all of the parents who came along to support us and to enjoy the afternoon with us. We had so much positive feedback – it was lovely to be back doing things as a whole school again and really felt like the ‘old’ Bosmere had returned! I am very pleased to report that we managed to raise a superb £1563.90! Well done everyone!

JUBILEE CELEBRATION
The second event, which took place just before the half term holiday, was the wonderful Platinum Jubilee Event. Once again, the children had an amazing time, enjoying our ‘street party’ style lunch together before taking part in the fun and games of the afternoon. We had some super entries to our Jubilee competitions – thank you to parents who supported their child with this. Huge thanks must go to one of our LSAs, Mrs Wright, who organised the whole event.

SPORTS DAY
An email will be coming out shortly about Sports Day, which is on Thursday 30th June. Parents are invited to join us for the whole day on this day (or as much of it as they would like!). The morning events (a carousel of sporting challenges in which all children take part) will start around 9:30am (confirmation of this will be in the Sports Day email). There will be a break at 12:30pm for lunch, to which we invite parents and supporters to stay and enjoy a picnic lunch with the children on the field. Rather than preparing hot meals we have arranged with HC3S to prepare picnic bags for those children who do not normally have a packed lunch (again further details of this will follow). The afternoon events will begin at 1:30pm after a 15 minute clear up and activity set up time. School will end at the usual time of 3:30pm.

END OF YEAR CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY
As you may know, every Friday we have a celebration assembly where we celebrate all the good things our children have been involved in, both in and out of school, and hand out the awards and achievements for the week. For our final celebration assembly, on Thursday 21st July, where we will be handing out awards and achievements for the year, we would like to invite parents to join us. In order to create enough space for parents, we will be holding two assemblies:
- Year 3 and Year 4 at 9:15am
- Year 5 and Year 6 at 10:15am
We hope you can join us to help us celebrate the children’s achievements! You will be notified by email if your child is receiving a special award.

STAFFING NEWS
Sadly, we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Fisk at the end of this school year. She is leaving us to enable her to devote more time to her family and to her other passion in life – sailing! We have appointed Mr Paul Sherlock as her replacement and we are looking forward to welcoming him onto the team. We will also be ‘losing’ 2 of our lunchtime supervisors at the end of this year – Mrs Terry and Mrs Simpson, although they are not going far as they will both be taking up full time LSA positions in the school. We have appointed Miss Conway and Mrs Taylor, who will be joining our Lunchtime Supervisory team from September.

GOVERNOR UPDATE
We are very lucky at Bosmere to have a team of governors who are extremely involved with the life of the school. We do have two vacancies for Parent Governors at the moment and will be advertising for these in September. In the meantime, if you would be interested in potentially applying for one of these positions and would like to find out more, please contact the school office.

YEAR 3 NEWS
Year 3 recently enjoyed an exciting visit to Butser Ancient Farm to support their Stone Age topic in history. From the moment we stepped on to the coaches, there was a real buzz among the children. The weather was not quite what we would hope for, but a little bit of (very persistent!) drizzle was never going to stop us!
All three classes enjoyed a variety of activities, including an archaeological dig, chalk carving, wattling, and a tour of the Stone Age houses.
We have only just started this topic in our history lessons and it really was a wonderful introduction, transporting us all back to a time when life was very different! I hope that your child will have come home and told you all about it!
As usual, we were very proud of the children - the staff at Butser were full of praise, and were surprised to hear that this was only the second trip the children had been on. Well done Year 3!
As we continue into the final half term in Year 3, we aim to make it as fun and memorable as possible, as well as preparing the children for next year. We will work closely with the Year 4 team to make the transition as smooth as possible. We have made the decision that we will not be mixing the classes this year, something we know lots of parents and children have been keen to find out!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

YEAR 4 NEWS
The highlight this month has been how we have absolutely immersed ourselves in our Gardening project. Our introductory session took us outside to see where our class would be planting so that we could research and plan our plots. We have loved being outside for an afternoon every week, (come rain or shine!) on a rotation of activities, weeding, planting, upcycling and creating, as well as researching one plant. We are really beginning to understand how biodiversity works and how each ecosystem benefits from having a variety of insects and plants. We have also worked with Martin Hampton to start creating paths in the meadow, which involved a lot of stamping, and avoiding thistles and stinging nettles (or not!). We cannot wait to harvest everything we have grown, which we will be cooking with next month.

YEAR 5 NEWS
What a wonderful term Year 5 has had! Our swimming lessons have now finished. All children in the year group that took part in the lessons throughout the year have had a brilliant time. The children of year 5 have also been able to experience what it is like to have lessons at Warblington secondary school. Some of the subjects the children have enjoyed are Drama, Dance, PE, Art, Science and Music. We have one more visit, which will take place on Tuesday 28th June. This has been a valuable experience for the children and they have been buzzing with all they have experienced. Year 5 have been learning about Volcanoes this term. The children have been fascinated by this topic. Currently we are preparing for our end of year production. This is a great opportunity to learn in a creative way. The children are very excited about this.

YEAR 6 NEWS
Year 6 have had another full month. It started with Superstars. The children really enjoyed all the challenges. As with all year groups they especially liked getting their teachers wet in 'Splat the Staff'. This was followed by our HEARTS morning in which we talked about E-safety and trust. We also had our inter-class battles using the fabulous medieval catapults that each child made for DT. Of course, the highlight of the month was our Platinum Jubilee Celebrations. The children made bunting and decorated biscuits with a royal theme. This was followed by a magnificent street (playground) party with lots of delicious food. Year 6 made the scones which were enjoyed by all. The activities in the afternoon were great fun. Year 6 have also started their 'Fiver Challenge'. Groups have been given £5 and their challenge is to make as much profit as possible. Look out on the playground for lots of stalls. We are combining our ‘Fiver Challenge’ with a lot of money lessons and have had a visit from the team at ‘Work out your Money’ who let us handle different amounts of money and taught us about the value of money.

ECO NEWS
Our highlight this month was visiting Warblington School during one of our Wednesday lunchtime sessions. We were route marched (!) by Mrs Fisk along the Billy Track and up to Warblington where we were warmly welcomed by their Eco-club. After having lunch together, we separated into groups and had a tour of their grounds to see what they had been up to, developing their outside areas to create more biodiversity. The Warblington Eco-club representatives were an absolute credit to their school, they looked after us extremely well and enthusiastically explained about each of their projects – they have achieved so much this year. We were also excited to hear that they had received their Green Flag this week in becoming an Eco-school. Celebrations all round!
We are now busy planning our Wild Wednesday event to celebrate becoming an Eco-school. This was the fabulous idea of Jaxon in Year 5. We are going to have a fun day where everyone comes to school wearing green and some of our curriculum that day will be focussed on our Carbon Footprint. During the week, we will also be having a recycling box from SE Recycling to collect any small electrical items from home that no longer work or are needed. It should be great fun.

E-SAFETY TIP – TikTok Family Pairing
Tiktok is an incredibly popular social media platform. However, it can be easy for children and young people to come across inappropriate content on the app (even though technically children should not use it under the age of 13). Because TikTok uses algorithms to show users new content, it is easy for young people to come across inappropriate or upsetting videos. The platform also has communication features that allow users to privately message each other which could put your child at risk of being contacted by someone they don’t know.
TikTok have introduced 'Family Pairing' which lets parents link their TikTok account to their teens’ to enable a variety of content and privacy settings. We would encourage parents to discuss the Family Pairing features, and explain why they choose to turn them on. Even without Family Pairing enabled, parents can help their teens enable the app’s Digital Well-being offerings, including Screen Time Management and Restricted Mode, which are protected by a passcode set by the parent or guardian. These settings may vary depending on your region and version of the app.
You can read TikTok's Guardian Guide for more details.
