ECO NEWS
Eco-schools update
The very active and ever-growing eco-committee have continued to meet every Wednesday, initially for a working lunch and then to carry out any aspect of the Action Plan. If you are interested, click here to see our minutes and relevant photos, information, etc. which are posted on the website each week.
Now, the eco-rangers are doing a great job of encouraging recycling and our eco-monitors are all making a concerted effort to reduce our energy use.
If you are able to contribute to any of our recycling programs, please do. Currently we are recycling:
- Stamps (in classrooms for RNIB)
- Fruit and vegetable waste (composting at playtime)
- Batteries (in the school entrance)
- Used pens (in the school entrance)
- Dental products (in the school entrance)
- Crisp packets (in the school entrance and at lunchtimes)
- Milk bottle tops (in the school entrance)
We have suggested to Mrs Robinson that we would like to run an inter-house competition to see if we can recycle as many of these items as possible – watch this space!
What’s next?
We have been contacted by Jim Davis, a local resident who we will be making links with next term to participate in some local growing projects in Juniper Square, which is very exciting.
We have also booked a visit from IRED who will show us how to use very sophisticated technology to monitor our energy efficiency (or inefficiency!) in January.
The Final Straw Foundation have also expressed an interest in coming in to school to get involved with one of our next projects, which will be great.
In the meantime, we hope that you all have a lovely Christmas and remember to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle whenever you can!
